About

I am still tinkering about with this site, so please bear with me whilst I try to make things pretty with some questionable technological skills!

I used to blog.

Years ago, I had a stereotypical office job, I sat at a computer 8 hours a day, and I really wanted to write something that would go out into the ether and be read by other people. Which was ironic, as part of my day job included speech writing for some rather important people.

I was restless. I had no direction. I released into the world every passing, twinkling thought that came within my grasp; what I did, what I ate, where I went and who I went there with. But I always felt there should be something more.

I had a good job, but I took a leap of faith and accepted a role as a designer on a wing and a prayer. In all honestly, I had next to no design experience, and my new boss really did have no idea how I would fare when they hired me. Even now I think it must have been a whim, or a bet. What I lacked in design school credentials however, I made up for with a background in environmental research, and a really good eye.

I wanted to make a difference in the world, but, and this was probably the crux of it, I really really didn’t know how. I’d worked in fashion before I moved to interior and now industrial design, and I still had a nagging feeling I was just skating the surface of human nature. The problem with design is that though you end up with a tangible object, sometimes tangible and conscious don’t relate.

When I was 21, I wanted to believe everything I did had a purpose. Now I’m a bit older and wiser. Let me introduce myself; my name is Lucie and I like to talk rather a lot. My posts, like my interests, are pretty diverse. I rant about equality, animal cruelty, food, and design geekery. I live in beautiful “sunny” Scotland with my beloved 5-year old pup Rhod and two belligerent cats. I am a Canadian girl at heart. I may have lost my accent and been living in Scotland most of my adult life, but I will always buy maple syrup by the gallon, have a fondness for lumberjack plaid, value good teeth, remember to say “please” and “thank you”, and above all I believe the beaver is a proud and majestic animal ;-).

You can find me and my particular ramblings on Twitter and Instagram as well.

Lots of love
